Often Old is gold

Clearing up drawers and sorting old albums I came across this photograph taken around 1984.

This is what my living room looked like. Kishan and I built up our little home bit by bit as the kids grew and work grew.

This wall cabinet was our first new piece of furniture and vow we were excited. All my special ceramic pieces were proudly displayed here.

The dining table the sofa set were all handed down from family.

Life felt so complete. Some months later we bought the black n white TV. Every Sunday morning life would come to a standstill as we all ( including my house help) sat around the tv to watch the serial "Ramayana".

A few years ago my kids ADITYA and ARTI set up their home and their room now has the same Sofa-set and the same dining table, refurbished of course.

The reason is simple- the wood is still better than what we get now, the carpentry work excellent.

Today we live in an era of use and throw, trends and styles change rapidly.

Some styles and material grow more exquisite and classy with age.

Yes, often enough---"old is gold".
